We did the dungeon, so…

It’s a fantasy epic, so of course there has to come the moment where the dragon appears and menaces our heroes. And he takes his time to get in his villain soliloquy before Giant Girl isn’t in the mood. A throwback to one of Ronni’s classic power moves, the uppercut where she’s growing at the same time to really lay into someone.

Karundrex’s expression of surprise and shock is precisely what I wanted, and the shot of him sprawling out into the snowstorm outside is marvelous.

A sense of scale of the dragon is lost, sure, but he was here for the menace value in this bit, and I like the tight efficient closeup sliver panels as a depiction of the passage of seconds. She’s a genius. Also, looks a lot like a McFarlane dragon. Which is cool, because they were awesome.

DEE’S NOTES

I was soooo excited that we were going to get to have a dragon in here. After a bit of brainstorming, I pitched the idea of it being up in the rafters like the tower was an enormous birdcage, which I think made for a really cool visual.

Karundrex is a LOT of fun to draw, and Ronni punching a DRAGON is exactly the kind of thing I love about drawing this comic.
