The Heart Still Wants What It Still Wants

A picture says a thousand words, and here’s the entire story, without a word spoken. I liked the idea that Lexii’s quests through time and space would be silent save for a sound effect or two, and this page once again demonstrates that Dee’s artwork can often tell the story with no writer assistance needed. Brilliant!

DEE’S NOTES

It was fun rising to the challenge of expressing this sequence knowing we would NOT have dialogue to lean on, but I think it worked fairly well. And I LOVED figuring out how to make an enormous, cosmic spider look both giddy with glee and moved to tears over a sad story.

But I think my favorite part here is her baseball slide into the cosmic panel border, where we figured out a way to make the magic portal effect a graphic element.
