I Don’t Wanna Do The Work Today
Those perfect heroes willing to lay down their lives for a cause, how noble! How brave! How unbelievable!
In this instance I thought it would be a nice twist of self-interest to have the kid playing hero in the giant superbody might not want to face certain doom. Similarly, the housewife moonlighting as a superhero also isn’t too keen on just jumping in and potentially sacrificing herself to save a bunch of randos.
Heroes with clay feet, to me, are always more interesting.
ED’S NOTESIt’s all fun and games until it’s time to face sudden destruction.
It’s a really great scene, in my opinion. Everybody else is ready to drink the Kool Aid, and only a couple of people are thinking that maybe it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. I wanted readers to see the child under the muscles, as he realizes that being a hero is a lot more serious than he thought it would be, and that scares him to his core.
