Doesn’t make it any less anxiety inducing, but it is comforting to know that they have a purpose when they just sneak up on you like that.

Reference will fundamentally make or break your panels and subject matter.

All in all, I find that getting closer to being a comic book artist of merit entails remembering that no matter how far i get in my learning, I will ALWAYS have something new to know and apply.
