A Chilly Reception
The Big Bopper at the bar has super powers, and when people with powers feel threatened, everybody notices. Yet as fast as he turns it on, he turns it off, turning the beer he froze to use as a weapon back into a beverage just as quickly.
Experienced and capable.
I love the pathos in the last panel. You feel for the guy, reliving it all again for somebody else.
ED’S NOTES
On this week’s page, I learned that I can create a detailed background without as much detail as I thought. With light, shadows, and different tones, the inside of the Tiki Lounge is interesting, while not taking up all of the detailed time and effort that I immediately thought that it would need.
With the focus being taken off of all of the details in the backgrounds, I could focus more on the figures and characters in the panels.
One of my all-time favorite documentaries is Frank and Ollie. It’s the story of two Disney character animators and their personal artistic philosophies that they used, and chiefly among them is the use of facial expression and body language shown through posing.
I try as best I can to use those in my panels and in that last one, I wanted everyone to feel how sad the past makes this guy when he thinks of it.
Why, you ask?
Read on, friends.
